Americas Foundation of the Serpentine Galleries

Launched in 2014, the Americas Foundation of the Serpentine Galleries brings together dedicated supporters of contemporary art from North and South America to serve as ambassadors for the Serpentine Galleries in London. The Americas Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in New York City.

Led by CEO Bettina Korek, Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist, and Chairman Michael R. Bloomberg, the Serpentine Galleries has presented pioneering exhibitions for half a century—showcasing the work of emerging practitioners as well as the most internationally recognized artists of our time. The Serpentine innovates at the intersections of Art and Ecology, Art and Civic Engagement, and Art and Technology. Supporters of the Americas Foundation gain shared insight into each of these areas of knowledge.

The Americas Foundation of the Serpentine Galleries is an essential component of the Serpentine's global network of support. Members commit a minimum of $10,000 per year—and are encouraged to join at the $25,000 level—contributing to the Serpentine's efforts to champion new ideas in contemporary art and amplify the voice of American artists worldwide. The Americas Foundation also contributes to the Serpentine's interdisciplinary initiatives, special exhibitions, and education programs.

Membership Benefits

Members of the Americas Foundation are invited to enjoy the following exclusive opportunities:

  • Fall and Spring Programs in New York and Los Angeles: Dynamic meetings with the Serpentine's leadership with presentations by Serpentine-featured artists. Guest speakers have included Marina Abramović, Sir David Adjaye, Christo, Bjarke Ingels, Jeff Koons, and Faith Ringgold. Private visits to artists' studios are frequently offered; most recently members were invited to an artist-led tour of world-renowned "photograffeur" JR's New York City studios.
  • Programs in London: Key events—accessed together with the Serpentine community of supporters and artists in London—including the coveted annual Serpentine Summer Party and special events during Frieze Week in autumn.
  • Exhibition Benefits: Serpentine Galleries' private exhibition viewings, as well as selected artist dinners in London and beyond.
  • Virtual Events: Exclusive private talks, recently featuring music pioneer and producer Swizz Beatz, architect Sir Norman Foster, and painter Jennifer Packer.
  • International Art Events: Complimentary VIP access to leading international art fairs and fair-related special programs, including an annual Serpentine event during Art Basel Miami Beach, VIP access to the Frieze art fair in Los Angeles, and the opportunity to join the Serpentine's leadership and supporters for exclusive international trips. Past travel programs have included visits to Argentina, Brazil, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Venice, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
